- The Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association (IDMA), established in 1961, is the industry association of leading pharmaceutical companies based out of India. IDMA works with the Government of India on the industry’s development plans, represents the industry on prominent issues such as pricing, regulatory affairs, and other policy matters. It also plays a crucial role in keeping business leaders, media, and the public informed about the industry.
- IDMA has more than 1,000 companies manufacturing formulations and APIs as its members. It regularly organizes seminars, training programs, and workshops for the benefit of members and the industry at large. In collaboration with the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India, IDMA successfully organized a series of workshops titled “GMP Workshop for SMEs – Schedule M and Beyond for Global Quality and Compliance,” and a seminar series on “Meeting Quality Challenges and Achieving Global Compliance” all over India. IDMA has successfully organized the second series of a MBA-style international education program – Advanced Program in Pharmaceutical Quality Management (APPQM) in collaboration with NSF Health Sciences, UK for developing change agents for quality excellence. It also works closely with the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission in compiling and bringing out the Indian Pharmacopoeia and wholeheartedly supports them in all their activities. IDMA has contributed to guiding the industry in constantly improving quality and efficacy through its highly regarded “Annual Pharmaceutical Analyst Conventions” held since 1997. IDMA is an initiative-taking contributor to the nation through CSR activities. For Swachh Bharat Mission, it took active part in the cleanliness drive and was conferred with the “Indian Pharma Swachhta Champion Award,” the first recipient of this award.
