Background of the Study
Library Management System is an application which refers to library systems which are generally small or medium in size. It is used by librarian to manage the library using a computerized system where he/she can record various transactions like issue of books, return of books, addition of new books, addition of new students etc.Books and student maintenance Modules are also included in this system which would keep track of the students using the library and also a detailed description about the books a library contains. With this computerized system there will be no loss of book record or students which generally happens when a non computerized system is used.In addition, report module is also included in Library Management System.

Since the amount of students/borrowers and books is increasing in Nnamdi Azikiwe University. It is necessary to prepare a space to store them. After a long time, the record book will be stockpiled. It needs well organized System and it is hard to find the record in short time because they need to find it one by one. This will cost extra time and it’s not efficient at all to the Librarian of Nnamdi Azikiwe’s University Library.
Based on present method, Librarians need to record the entire booklist and borrower list manually using a logbook.
Librarians in Nnamdi Azikiwe University are able to monitor and manage library’s inventory much easier and much effective. There is large amount of database to support the future needs and will give added advantages to the all Library operations.
If user’s position is admin, the user is able to generate different kinds of reports like lists of students registered, list of books, issue and return reports.All these modules are able to help librarian to manage the library with more convenience and in a more efficient way as compared to library systems which are not computerized

1.2 Statement of the Problems
The problems found in the Library during Library operation was enomous that there were cases where books got missing, if it is not stolen by the student it may be stolen by the staff, part of some books were turn, manual issuing of books and cards, Unidentification of Books in its shelf, time required to record as well as presenting an Information and also the cost of purchasing books, News paper and Journals and Magazines, uneasy returning of books to the library.
Lack of effectiveness in their methods of record keeping, further compounds the problem.

1.3 Purpose of the Study
The objectives include the following to:
1. Create database for students.
2. Create database for books and Authors information.
3. Design an online platform to search and read books.
