ABSTRACT

This research was conducted with special reference to Coca – Cola Plant, Benin City. The objective of the study is to know the importance of good management to business organizations. Data were obtained through personal interview and the administration of questionnaires as well as secondary data. Data collected were subjected to chi-square test in order to prove or disprove hypotheses therein. The analysis of findings indicates that Coca Cola Plant good management to business organizations.

1.1 BACKGROUND TO THE STUDY
The word management has a multiple uses and can applied to many situation and circumstance. Therefore for our purpose in modern times we shall rather view management as an opening to both private and public sectors organizations. While management should be interpreted to mean a part of administration process which is concerned with the design and implementation of those systems and procedure that will help in meeting the stated organization objectives.
It can also be used to described the following situation
 An internal organizational or administrative process
 A science, discipline or art of getting things done through subordinate or people
 A career on occupation or a profession
 A collectivity of individuals running or operating a particular organization so as to achieve certain goals.
Probably the only aspect of the distinction that deserves to be emphasized has to do with the generic and circle nature of management functional process and the specific function of an administrator who co-operating to accomplish common goals.

Management is usually described as the process of designing and maintaining an environment in which individuals working together in groups accomplish efficiently selected aims.
Mary Parker Follet also see management as the process of getting things done through other people.
Henri Fayol’s book “Administration industries lie – el generate” from it original French version into English between 1929 and 1949 respectively.

As a foremost researched writer on management principles. His writings were quite instructive to what had grown to become different areas of specialization today both in administration and management. However, in its original contest management is used to indicate a specific function involving the supervision of the work of other.
Management therefore implies the total utilization of scarce resources in order to achieve predetermined organizational objectives. These resources comprise the materials, machines, money men and moment (time) of an organization, which are utilized to attain organization objectives.
Objectives are the reasons for established of an organization. Organizational objectives are intents, aspirations and wishes that the organization sets and pursues within a specific time period.
There are some element in management that promotes the efficiency in a business organization.
(a) There are goals to be attained
(b) There are resource to be utilized
(c) There are groups of subordinates or people assigned specific task and responsibilities
(d) The available resources are limited
(e) The individuals contribution is necessary to achieve the Corporate goals.
Thus, management is the basic integrating process of work activities that surround the work environment for the achievement of her goals and objective.

Management is concerned with the process of planning, organizing, leading, staffing, coordinating and controlling. This effects of organizational members and utilizing resources to achieve given organizational goals and objectives.
Management help to cover the gap between the working slack and the efficiency of the subordinates.
In this situation we could asked: who is a manager? A manager is any person who makes other people to work so as to achieve a given goals.
It should be emphasized that economic, social and political development is for the efficiency of the management. The focus and their impacts especially the adverse ones need to be checked.
