A soap is a material which when dissolved in water, aids the removal of dirt or foreign mater from a surface. Soap is an alkali metal of a long chain fatty acid and is manufactured using vegetable, and animal fats and caustic soda.
Soap in chemical is a salt containing fatty acid. Soap can be in liquid form or solid form. Liquid soap facilitate cleansing properties of water. Water which is a universal solvent is used in washing, but using water alone cannot remove the dirt caused by fats and carboxyl. Hence when soap mixes with water, the reaction helps in the removal of dirt. Through ages soap has been used to cleanse, to care skin scores, to dye hair and has a salve or skin ointment.
The alkaline solution is often called lye which brings about a chemical reaction known as saponification.

1.5 PURPOSE OF STUDY
The main purpose of this work is directed towards finding and analyzing the process involved in the production of soap (good soap of quality).
The purposes of this work are as follows:
1. To produce soap of high quality that can be used for both bathing and laundry.

3. To investigate the properties of soap produced
4. To produce soap that can be used on both hard and soft water.
5. To produce soap of high cleaning action that also lathes well in water.
6. To meet the standardization of quality soap.
1.6 SIGNIFICANCE OF STUDY
The use of ordinary detergent have lethal effects on the paints of car. Liquid car wash soap helps to prevent the colors on vehicles from easily fading; also it would bring out the brightness of cars. There is no doubt about the fact that this research work will be beneficiary to some set of people and entity. Meanwhile, this work on the production of liquid soap for car wash will benefit the following people, car owners, liquid soap producers and future researchers. With the knowledge of soap production as a student it provides occupation and makes one to be independent. It helps in improving the country’s economy and it is important in domestic industries.
