PROGRAMMING OF SCIENSTIFIC CALCULATOR USING VISUAL BASIC.NET

Introduction
This project study is intended to study the existing types of calculators and to develop a new one using Visual Basic Dot Net. The project shall cover advantages and disadvantages of the using calculators in everyday academic and business transactions.
Topics to be covered include: relational/theoretical framework, statement of the problem, purpose of the study, research questions and hypothesis, significance of the study, limitations of the study, scope/delimitation of the study and operational definition of terms.

1.2 Background Of The Study
This research focuses on the question: In what way can the use of calculator in education and businesses support learning, testing and assessing relevant mathematical skills?
By ‘in what way,’ the project is not a question whether calculator can be used to support learning, testing and assessing mathematical skills, but how calculator should be applied.
By education, in this research, we focus on upper secondary and tertiary education.
And by public use of calculator, it is meant the general public who make one form of calculation or another, everyday.

Generally, there are two broad schools of thought on the use of calculator. One group are those who give solid support and promote the use. The other are those who propound all kinds of reasons and excuses on why students should not be allowed to use calculator in their everyday school, academic works and business transactions. Despite the reasons against the use of calculator, the pro-group are wining, because calculators are ubiquitous (everywhere) and calculators are very common, as hand-held tools, built into computers, laptops, handsets and android phones.

1.3 Statement Of The Problem
In the present world of modern civilization, the use of information and computer technology has become very common and it is the order of the day.
In developing country people do not know how to program computer device or electronic gadgets. even student studying computer science and technology need to be exposed to a wide variety of project design and codes.
Therefore, this project was chosen as a challenge, to enable the researcher to do serious work by finding out how to design and program a scientific calculator.

1.4 Purpose Of The Study
The purpose of this project is to develop a working scientific calculator using Visual Basic.Net. The aims and objectives are the following:
1. Design the interface.
2. Add the code for each control.
3. Test run the scientific calculator.

1.5 Research Questions And Hypothesis
In a research work, the researcher has to guide himself with some questions, which keep him focused on the purpose of the research. Relevant questions are the following:
Is it possible to develop a scientific calculator using Visual Basic Dot Net?
Has the students gained enough programming skills and experience to handle such a great and challenging task?
Therefore, the following two hypotheses were developed:
H1: It is possible to design and develop a working calculator, using Visual Basic Dot Net.
H0: It is not possible to design and develop a calculator using Visual Basic Dot Net.

1.6 Significance Of The Study
The project shall provide the following benefits to the society and educational establishment, including universities colleges and polytechnics:
1Provide the scientific knowledge and skill in the computations and analysis.
2 Enable computer science student for developing similar and other software’s.
3 Make everyday calculations easy, fast and available.
4 The electronic calculator may be installed in laptops, android, phones, notebook computers.
5 Business man can use the software for business Transactions, calculations and records.
6 Provide background knowledge which may be applied in the use of other programming languages.
7 Makes possible the design and development of online calculators for office, educational, business and general uses.
